Supported Independent Living

Thornfields_CMYK_Logo.png

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is also sometimes referred to as a group home or shared accommodation. SIL is an NDIS support that helps participants with everyday tasks such as personal care, cooking and cleaning in a shared living environment. The funding for these items can vary depending on the level of support required.

An individual NDIS funding for Supported Independent Living (SIL) covers:

  • Assistance with daily life tasks in a group or shared environment

  • Shared living arrangements (2-4 participants)

  • Three levels of support (at benchmark price)

  • Reflective of 24 hour care, 7 days a week

Cost of supports does NOT include rent or day-to-day living expenses such as food, activities, personal care supports when the person is hospitalised or items covered in other sections of NDIS price guide (i.e. cost of transport or assistive technology)
